Nel fine settimana di Ferragosto, i Musei Civici saranno aperti al pubblico dalle 10 alle 18. Nei giorni di sabato 15 e domenica 16 agosto sarà quindi possibile visitare il Museo Civico d’arte antica in Palazzo Comunale, dove è in corso il progetto espositivo Due ritratti pistoiesi di Giovanni da San Giovanni (fino al 27 settembre); il Museo dello Spedale del Ceppo; il Museo del Novecento e Contemporaneo di Palazzo Fabroni, con il progetto espositivo Marino Marini: la pittura (fino al 27 settembre). Negli stessi giorni sarà visitabile, inoltre, con ingresso gratuito dalle 10 alle 18, anche l’ex chiesa di San Jacopo in Castellare, fino a un massimo di 50 persone contemporaneamente presenti.

Nel mese di agosto i Musei Civici osservano il seguente orario di apertura: dal martedì al venerdì, dalle 10 alle 14; sabato e domenica dalle 10 alle 18; lunedì 24 agosto (festa di San Bartolomeo) dalle 10 alle 13; lunedì chiuso.

Fondazione Pistoia Musei

Per Ferragosto le sedi di Fondazione Pistoia Musei resteranno regolarmente aperte con orario continuato. Sarà possibile visitare il Museo dell’Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, il Museo di San Salvatore e Palazzo de’ Rossi | Collezioni del Novecento dalle 10 alle 19.

Aperture chiese

Il 15 agosto sarà possibile visitare alcune delle principali chiese del centro storico, occasione per scoprire anche alcuni dei luoghi più significativi del patrimonio storico e artistico cittadino. In piazza del Duomo, la Cattedrale di San Zeno sarà aperta dalle 9 alle 12 e dalle 16 alle 18.30, mentre il Battistero di San Giovanni in Corte sarà visitabile dalle 10 alle 17.30, come previsto per le giornate di venerdì, sabato e domenica.

Regolare l’apertura della chiesa di San Paolo, dalle 7 alle 19, e della Basilica della Madonna, dalle 8.30 alle 18 tutta la settimana. San Giovanni Fuorcivitas, normalmente aperta il lunedì, martedì, giovedì, venerdì, sabato e domenica dalle 10 alle 13 e dalle 16 alle 19 e il mercoledì dalle 10 alle 13, farà invece un’eccezione in occasione di Ferragosto e resterà chiusa.

La Chiesa di Sant’Andrea rimarrà aperta dalle 9.30 alle 18.

Fortezza Santa Barbara

Significativo esempio di architettura militare del Cinquecento, la Fortezza Santa Barbara di Pistoia sarà regolarmente visitabile sabato 15 agosto in orario 8.30-13.30, con ingresso gratuito.

FIRENZE – La Regione Toscana ha trasmesso a tutti i sindaci una nota sulle misure di biosicurezza e di controllo previste del commissario straordinario alla peste suina africana. 

Attualmente le zone soggette a restrizione interessano alcuni territori delle province di Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pistoia e Prato. La peste suina africana colpisce esclusivamente maiali e cinghiali e non si trasmette all’uomo. Le persone, tuttavia, possono trasportare involontariamente il virus attraverso fango e residui presenti su calzature, ruote, attrezzature e veicoli.

Le aree sono classificate in zona I, ad alto rischio ma senza casi accertati; zona II, con presenza della malattia nei cinghiali; zona III, con presenza della malattia nei suini domestici, con o senza casi nei cinghiali.

Nelle zone II e III, le attività all’aperto nelle aree agricole e naturali – tra cui trekking, ciclismo, pesca, lavori agricoli e forestali, ricerca di funghi e tartufi, manifestazioni, campeggi, utilizzo delle aree picnic, transumanza e alpeggio – devono svolgersi rispettando specifiche misure di biosicurezza. Per le attività agricole e forestali alcune prescrizioni si applicano anche nella zona I.

Non si tratta di un divieto generalizzato, ma è indispensabile: rimanere sui sentieri e sui percorsi segnalati tenere i cani al guinzaglio; non abbandonare rifiuti o avanzi di cibo e non alimentare i cinghiali; parcheggiare nelle aree indicate, evitando prati e zone con vegetazione; pulire e disinfettare calzature, ruote, attrezzature e mezzi dopo le attività; utilizzare prodotti disinfettanti idonei, rispettando scrupolosamente le indicazioni riportate sulle confezioni

Per le attività che prevedono la partecipazione di più di 20 persone è necessario ottenere preventivamente il parere favorevole dell’Azienda sanitaria competente. Il promotore deve inoltre informare tempestivamente il Comune interessato.

Nell’ambito dei servizi dedicati alla prevenzione e al contrasto dei reati contro il patrimonio, i carabinieri della stazione di Ponte Buggianese hanno proceduto all’arresto di una donna di 49 anni con l’accusa di rapina.

L’episodio si inserisce nel quadro del costante monitoraggio delle aree commerciali a maggiore affluenza, un’attività che l’Arma persegue per garantire la tutela degli esercizi e la sicurezza della cittadinanza.

I fatti si sono verificati nel pomeriggio dello scorso 10 agosto all’interno del supermercato Esselunga di Pescia. La donna, senza fissa dimora e con precedenti a carico, si è introdotta nel reparto enoteca dell’esercizio. Dopo aver prelevato dagli scaffali diverse bottiglie di superalcolici, per un valore complessivo stimato intorno ai 300 euro, le ha occultate all’interno di un bagaglio personale con l’intento di oltrepassare le casse senza provvedere al pagamento.

I movimenti sono stati rilevati dall’impianto di videosorveglianza del punto vendita e notati dal personale addetto alla vigilanza. L’operatore di sicurezza è intervenuto per fermare la persona la quale, nel tentativo di assicurarsi la fuga, ha opposto resistenza strattonandolo e colpendolo ripetutamente. La tempestiva chiamata al 112, ha permesso il celere arrivo di una pattuglia della Stazione di Ponte Buggianese, inviata immediatamente dalla centrale operativa di Pistoia, contenendo sensibilmente i tempi in cui l’addetto alla sicurezza si era trovato a trattenere l’indagata da solo.

I militari hanno, quindi, messo in condizioni sicurezza lo scenario, preso in custodia la quarantanovenne e recuperato l’intera refurtiva, contestualmente restituita ai responsabili del punto vendita. Al termine delle formalità di rito, la donna è stata trattenuta nelle camere di sicurezza della compagnia di Montecatini Terme.

Il giorno dopo il tribunale di Pistoia ha convalidato l’arresto, disponendo nei confronti dell’indagata la misura cautelare della custodia in carcere. La donna è stata conseguentemente trasferita al carcere di Firenze Sollicciano, a disposizione dell’autorità gGiudiziaria.

Spanning 106 feet, measuring 76 feet nose to tail, and weighing more than 25,000 pounds at takeoff, X1 is the largest battery-electric aircraft ever flown. 

The flight took place on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, at Heart’s X1 flight-test base at Plattsburgh International Airport, a regional commercial airport serving a community of 20,000 people in upstate New York. The piloted mission lasted 27 minutes, during which X1 reached an altitude of 1,100 feet AGL and its all-electric propulsion system delivered more than one megawatt of power. 

The flight was conducted under an FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category (SAC-EC), with a test profile that included taxi, takeoff, climb, maneuvering, and landing. The mission was designed to demonstrate all-electric flight at a scale relevant to commercial airline operations. 

Powered entirely by batteries, X1 used approximately $5 worth of electricity during its first flight. The flight came amid a sustained surge in global jet fuel prices, which averaged $3.50 per gallon for the week ending August 7, up 63% year over year, highlighting the potential for electric propulsion to deliver structurally lower aircraft operating costs while decoupling airlines from the volatility of global oil markets.

Initial Portfolio 

In order to establish its initial investment portfolio, the Company has entered into binding option agreements to purchase up to US$40 million of interests in special purpose vehicles (“SPVs”) managed by Rizvi Traverse (a company connected to Suhail Rizvi, Executive Chairman of Shaires and a related party to the Company), that provide exposure to some of the world’s most significant private technology companies: 

In addition, the Company has entered into a subscription agreement with a third-party SPV providing exposure to ByteDance (US$15.0 million), the leading global technology group behind TikTok, Douyin and Doubao. The Company has also entered into a subscription agreement to acquire an interest in Moonshot AI (US$5.0 million), the leading Chinese AI lab behind the Kimi series of open-source models. Furthermore, as part of its in-kind, share-for-share contribution programme, the Company has entered into contribution agreements with certain counterparties that are contributing US$14.8 million of interests in SPVs providing exposure to SandboxAQ, a leading AI and quantum computing company as well as U$12.0 million of shares in Colossal Biosciences, an advanced genetics and biosciences company working on “de-extinction”. The aggregate total maximum value of all the initial commitments amounts to US$86.7 million. 

The Company is in advanced discussions regarding further investments into leading private technology and AI companies and will provide regular updates when definitive agreements are signed, in keeping with the Company’s intention to build a portfolio in excess of US$500 million in the near-term. These opportunities are at varying stages of negotiation and documentation and there is no certainty that any will be completed. 

The initial portfolio will be funded, in part, by the Company’s institutional raise, conducted through direct subscriptions for new ordinary shares at US$20.00 per share, under which a first tranche of US$28.5 million has been completed through the subscription of 1,424,000 new ordinary shares as announced on 30 July 2026. The investments in SandboxAQ and Colossal Biosciences as part of the in-kind programme are funded by the issuance of 1,341,821 new ordinary shares (“Contribution Shares”). Under the in-kind programme, the Company will issue new ordinary shares at $20.00 per share. 

Retail Offer 

As announced in a separate release a retail offer (“WRAP Retail Offer”), managed by Marex, is being launched today at a price of $20.00 per share, the same price as the initial institutional raise. 

The Company’s capital raising programme is ongoing: a second institutional tranche is in progress alongside the retail offer. Across the two institutional tranches, in-kind programme and the retail offer, the Company is targeting a total raise of US$100 million. Capital Access Window 

Following the updates to the AIM Rules for Companies announced earlier this month, the Company has decided to utilise a Capital Access Window. This is a voluntary pause to the trading of a Company’s shares to make it easier for companies to reach a broader range of investors, including retail investors, during a fundraise. From 07:30am today, the Company’s shares will enter a Capital Access Window until a further announcement is made detailing the close of the WRAP Retail Offer. 

New Shares Admission and Total Voting Rights 

Due to adjustments for fractions in the share consolidation that took place on 9 June 2026 being accounted for in error, the number of the Company’s number of shares outstanding incorrectly included 15 shares. The actual number of shares outstanding as of today is 2,499,989 and not 2,500,004 as previously stated. 

Furthermore, an application will be made for the 741,821 Consideration Shares related to the investment in SandboxAQ and the 600,000 Consideration Shares related to the investment in Colossal Biosciences (together 1,341,821 Consideration Shares) to be admitted to trading on AIM (“Admission”), with admission expected on or around 21 August 2026.

The preliminary decision, which applies only in China, has not taken effect and, therefore, has not impacted the company’s customers or patients. The court’s ruling would take effect if Angel’s appeal is unsuccessful. 

Angel is confident that the A7 Premolar Extraction Solution does not infringe any valid patent. The Company has won several patent disputes against the Plaintiff in various jurisdictions around the world and strongly advocates for fair competition in the aligner and scanner market.

On May 12, 2026, the Local Division Düsseldorf (Germany) of the Unified Patent Court issued a preliminary ruling expressly rejecting the Plaintiff’s request for a preliminary injunction requiring Angel to cease using the A7 Premolar Extraction Solution. The Plaintiff did not appeal the ruling, which is now final. The European patent at issue and the Chinese patent at issue in the Jinan case belong to the same patent family. 

On June 26, 2026, the Zhengzhou Intermediate People’s Court of China rendered two first-instance judgments in two disputes over patent infringement brought by the Plaintiff against Angel, dismissing all the Plaintiff’s claims. The Plaintiff has appealed the judgments.

TORONTO, Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Vale Base Metals (“VBM”, or the “Company”), a leading global supplier of critical minerals, today announced it is proceeding with the Coarse Particle Flotation (CPF) project (the “Project”) at its Salobo Copper Complex in Brazil, representing a step change that will significantly increase processing and production capacity with exceptional project economics. 

The Company anticipates start-up in the first half of 2028, approximately one year earlier than initially projected. This underscores VBM’s optimized construction strategy and enterprise-wide reorganization of its project approach, with increased agility and ability to execute, delivering sector-leading returns from its project portfolio and vast mineral endowment.   

The Project is expected to add 6 million tonnes to the Salobo plant’s annual ore processing capacity, bringing overall processing capacity to 42 million tonnes per year. Annual copper production is projected to increase by up to approximately 30,000 tonnes contained in concentrate, which will also carry approximately 15,000 ounces of gold as a byproduct, further enhancing Salobo’s production profile following record output in 2024 and 2025.

CPF Project will Reduce Bottlenecks  

The CPF Project is a brownfield expansion that will leverage Salobo’s high-quality orebody and existing infrastructure, reducing execution risk. Salobo is the largest copper operation in Brazil and a long-life, cornerstone asset for VBM. 

CPF will reduce grinding requirements at Salobo through the addition of a new flotation circuit that removes waste rock earlier in the processing stream, alleviating grinding bottlenecks, increasing metallurgical recoveries, and enabling higher throughput. The Project is expected to reduce the operation’s environmental impact with lower average energy and water usage compared to other methods. 

As part of Salobo’s strategic plan, total mine movements are expected to increase by approximately 7% benefiting from a number of initiatives including the introduction of new autonomous haulage equipment. 

VBM received the construction license for the CPF Project from IBAMA (Brazil Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) ahead of schedule, enabling project implementation to begin earlier than planned. 

Wheaton and VBM Working Together to Fund the Project 

In addition, Wheaton Precious Metals (“Wheaton”) has agreed to provide $40 million to VBM to partially fund the capital associated with the Project. Payments will be made in two separate $20 million installments tied to project milestones. VBM and Wheaton have agreed to these payments in lieu of future milestone payments under the existing Salobo streaming agreement, which would have required Wheaton to potentially make annual payments over a 10-year period of up to $8 million to VBM, if a high-grade mine plan was implemented. 

VBM has reviewed the CPF Project plan and simplified its scope to support a lower capex estimate of approximately $215 million1, down from the initially projected $225-$275 million. Given Wheaton’s funding, VBM’s capital expenditure is expected to be approximately $175 million1. The Project’s low capital intensity of $5,000 – $6,000 per copper equivalent tonne is well below the industry average.

Innovation and Collaboration 

VBM began research and development work on CPF for Salobo more than two years ago, conducting extensive lab testing at its state-of-the-art Sheridan Park Research Facility in Canada along with collaboration with industry experts and technical partners. Field testing has underpinned design assumptions and is continuing to accelerate operational training and provide valuable insights at the Company’s pilot plant in Brazil’s Carajás region – the prolific copper district where Salobo, and all of VBM’s copper assets in Brazil, are located. 

The Company is exploring additional opportunities for CPF technology at its other copper projects in the Carajás and across its portfolio, including further innovative applications at its polymetallic ore bodies.

Strong Copper Project Pipeline  

The CPF Project is part of VBM’s strong copper project pipeline in Brazil, which is underpinned by the Company’s substantial mineral endowment of more than 53 million tonnes of contained copper in mineral reserves and resources, including inferred resources.

Il vicepremier Antonio Tajani in rappresentanza del governo Meloni e l’ex premier Giuseppe Conte, deputato, con il sindaco Maurizio Verona e il presidente della Regione Toscana Eugenio Giani a Sant’Anna di Stazzema mercoledì 12 agosto.

Teatro dell’eccidio nazifascista in cui vennero massacrati 560 civili il 12 agosto 1944.

Giuseppe Conte, leader M5S, oratore ufficiale: “La nostra Costituzione è stata scritta per affermare con chiarezza mai più fascismo“. Poi: “Chi si professa patriota oggi dovrebbe essere qui per onorare la patria”

Tajani: “All’alba del 12 agosto 1944 circa trecento tedeschi delle SS, con l’aiuto di collaboratori fascisti, salirono a Sant’Anna di Stazzema e compirono una delle più gravi stragi nazifasciste della Seconda Guerra mondiale in Italia. Rastrellarono le borgate casa per casa e uccisero circa 560 persone, tra loro circa 130 bambini. Fu un massacro di vite innocenti, una delle pagine più buie della storia d’Europa. Oggi, in rappresentanza del Governo, ho commemorato ognuna di quelle vittime, per custodire la loro memoria, affinché quell’orrore non si ripeta mai più nel solco della pace e del rispetto della persona umana”.

Il messaggio del presidente della Repubblica Mattarella: “La Repubblica avverte il dovere di ricordare gli innocenti – donne, anziani, bambini – uccisi senza alcuna pietà a Sant’Anna e nelle frazioni di Stazzema, oltraggiando e bruciando i loro corpi, calpestando ogni sentimento di umanità”.

Definendo la strage “Un simbolo dell’abisso in cui le guerre possono precipitare, cancellando la dignità dell’uomo, facendo prevalere l’orrore dell’annientamento”.

Le guerre sono tornate a gettare la loro ombra sui nostri giorni, ora le volontà di potenza e i propositi di dominio si riaffacciano, manifestandosi in forme anche inedite. Sono più che mai preziose le testimonianze e le coscienze capaci di trasmettere esperienze e valori. Sono capaci di respingere violenza, odio, il disprezzo per il rispetto del pluralismo, dell’identità delle persone. Fare memoria, oltre che atto di responsabilità è atto di liberazione che si rinnova. La vittoria sul nazifascismo aprì la strada della rinascita.
Ciascuna generazione deve sapere che a ognuna appartiene il rafforzamento e la difesa delle conquiste civili, che non sono acquisite una volta per tutte. I loro presupposti etici, le ragioni di impegno, vanno rinnovati e rinsaldati”.

Giani: “Ottanta anni fa nasceva la nostra Costituzione, che come ci ricorda Piero Calamandrei poggia sul dolore di chi patì stragi ed eccidi, sul sacrificio dei partigiani e sull’antifascismo. Anche Sant’Anna di Stazzema dunque è madre della nostra Costituzione: qui, dove con brutalità inaudita furono distrutte 560 vite (394 gli identificati ndr) e tra loro almeno 130 bambini in una tranquilla mattina di agosto”.

Conte: “Con i soldati tedeschi c’erano anche uomini e donne con il volto semicoperto, parlavano italiano, erano i collaborazionisti, i complici fascisti di questa strage. Non fu una rappresaglia militare, fu un’azione terroristica premeditata, un massacro pianificato e attuato nei minimi dettagli”.

“La nostra Costituzione è stata scritta per affermare con chiarezza mai più fascismo. E’ stata scritta con lo scopo di rifondare lo Stato su principi, valori radicalmente antitetici al fascismo: il valore supremo della persona umana, l’uguaglianza formale ma anche sostanziale di tutti i cittadini, il primato del lavoro, la libertà di espressione, di riunione, la partecipazione democratica offerta a tutti. La Costituzione, lo osservò Giuseppe Saragat, è stata concepita, disse, non solo per sanzionare un passato funesto ma anche per affermare la certezza di un avvenire migliore, fondato sul patto solenne tra gli italiani per rispettare la legalità democratica. E allora c’è un connubio indissolubile tra democrazia e antifascismo“.

CINZIA GORLA

Abbiamo avuto il piacere di intervistare Igli Zannerini e Marzia Pacini, presidente e vicepresidente dell’associazione, che ci hanno guidato in un percorso fatto di sfide continue e grandi soddisfazioni, il tutto sempre col sorriso di chi sa di impegnarsi per una giusta causa senza voler niente in cambio.

Tocca al presidente Zannerini introdurre la storia dell’associazione sul territorio pistoiese: “Un primo embrione di Avis nasce a Pistoia nel 1934, fondata dal dottor Collatino Cantieri come ente di volontariato, prima di essere dismessa durante dalla dittatura fascista. Il partito voleva apporre il suo logo accanto a quello dell’associazione, ma questo violava uno dei cardini principali della stessa: Avis è apolitica, apartitica e aconfessionale, è di tutti e per tutti. Terminata la guerra l’Italia intera è attraversata da anni di carestia, Pistoia non fa eccezione e c’è chi lucra sulla salute delle persone per racimolare qualche lira in più: sono gli anni del mercato nero del sangue, in cui alcuni individui si prestavano ai prelievi per poi rivenderlo a chi ne aveva bisogno. Le cifre erano altissime, e una sacca di liquido costava l’equivalente di un mese e mezzo di stipendio di un operaio. La salute non era un diritto di tutti, ma le cose cambiarono il 17 aprile del 1955, giorno della nascita di Avis Pistoia”.

Dalle bistecche alle Notti Rosse: “Valeriano Belliti, primo direttore del trasfusionale, e altri 12 fondarono l’associazione e da allora la raccolta ematica sul territorio cambiò radicalmente, realizzando il sogno del volontariato. Il sangue diventava gratis. Per convincere le persone a donare si inventarono l’espediente del ‘buono bistecca’: in cambio di una donazione si riceveva un pezzo di carne, un vero e proprio lusso in quegli anni. Si era ormai creato un piccolo nucleo di donatori abituali, ma più si andava avanti più diventava necessario far conoscere il tema della donazione in tutto il pistoiese. La Saca e poi il Copit misero a disposizione un’autoemoteca, un autobus dedito alla trasfusione e che grazie all’aiuto di autisti e infermieri volontari raggiungeva i centri più importanti del territorio – San Marcello, Agliana, Quarrata ecc… – ogni domenica. Questo ha portato poi alla nascita delle 13 sedi attualmente presenti nella provincia, di cui 4 sono centri trasfusionali”.

Il tema della donazione e della necessità di raccolta del sangue diventano sempre più conosciuti, ma per il presidente la svolta vera e propria arriva grazie ad un episodio abbastanza singolare: “Nel ’92 un accordo tra l’associazione e il Copit )di cui Zannerini era autista, ndr) permise di realizzare una partita di calcio benefica tra una rappresentativa locale e la celebre Nazionale Cantanti allo Stadio Melani. Grazie agli introiti della partita riuscimmo ad acquistare e donare 15 macchinari per la raccolta di plasma. Fu il primo di una serie di eventi che arrivano ai giorni nostri, in cui Avis è ormai un punto di riferimento, conosciuto e rispettato da tutti per l’aiuto che dà alla popolazione”.

L’importanza del meteo sangue e del contributo dei volontari

Sul sito di Avis Pistoia è possibile vedere quante donazioni vengono fatte ogni anno, mese per mese. Per un territorio relativamente piccolo come quello della nostra provincia vengono raccolte tra le 4500 e le 5000 sacche di sangue l’anno, numeri importanti che però non raccontano quello che è il vero obiettivo dell’ente: “A noi non interessa il numero delle sacche in sé – ribadisce Zannerini -, quanto che ogni gruppo sanguigno sia coperto alla bisogna. Sul sito si può controllare il meteo sangue, il nostro vangelo: ci dice qual è il gruppo sanguigno di cui c’è più bisogno al momento e quindi quali donatori contattare per prima in base alle scadenze“. Com’è facile intuire, il caldo torrido di questi mesi estivi ha rallentato molto il processo delle donazioni e alcuni gruppi sanguigni registrano una cadenza significativa. L’invito è quello di controllare il meteo sangue e di telefonare per dare una mano in base alle proprie possibilità.

Dare una mano è il nucleo su cui si fonda tutto l’operato di Avis, che ci tiene a far presente quanto sia fondamentale il contributo di tutti i volontari: “Pistoia senza volontariato sarebbe persa! Se riusciamo a garantire un servizio alla comunità è grazie a tutti coloro che fanno parte di questa grande famiglia, da chi ci aiuta a livello organizzativo a chi prepara gli stand durante la ‘Notte Rossa’, passando per chi ogni mattina decide di rinunciare alla comodità del proprio letto per preparare un caffè a chi viene a donare. La voglia di stare assieme e di rendere un servizio alla comunità ci dà forza, aiutare gli altri aiuta anche sé stessi”.

La Notte Rossa e il ruolo dei giovani donatori

Marzia Pacini è la vicepresidente e veterana di Avis con oltre 170 donazioni alle spalle. È lei a contattare e ad accogliere personalmente i donatori con cui ha ormai un rapporto speciale, specialmente con i più giovani. Marzia introduce alla prima edizione della Notte Rossa e lo fa con gli occhi lucidi di chi ripercorre un percorso che all’inizio aveva poche certezze: “La prima edizione risale al 2013, c’erano tante attività, tanti ospiti tra cui Paolo Ruffini, ma anche tanta paura: ci concessero di farla il martedì, non come adesso di giovedì con i negozi aperti, e bisognava pagare un biglietto per entrare. Pensavamo non venisse nessuno, ma fortunatamente non è stato così. Da quel momento e negli anni la ‘Notte Rossa’ è diventata un punto di riferimento dell’estate pistoiese, questo anche grazie al supporto delle varie amministrazioni e delle attività locali che sono sempre state dalla nostra parte. Questo rapporto di mutuo aiuto è la formula vincente e ci permette di raggiungere sempre più persone, e sempre più ragazzi”.

E proprio il rapporto con i più giovani è uno dei vanti più importanti di cui si può fregiare l’ente. Avis Pistoia, infatti, va da anni nelle scuole superiori del territorio per parlare con i ragazzi delle quarte e delle quinte: “Andare negli istituti per noi è sia un piacere che elemento fondamentale per diffondere il verbo della donazione, e abbiamo riscontrato un aumento di interesse nei più giovani. Credo che chi entra nella maggiore età veda questa come un’opportunità per sentirsi grande, parte di qualcosa, e la possibilità di aiutare qualcuno contribuisce a creare un senso di responsabilità importante. L’importante è portare i ragazzi a provare a donare per la prima volta, vedere come si trovano, e vi posso assicurare che difficilmente qualcuno smette di farlo”.

Gioie e dolori, quando la burocrazia si oppone allo sviluppo dell’associazione

La gioia e la soddisfazione di aiutare chi ne ha bisogno e di creare una rete composta da sempre più persone, alle volte, però, si scontra con alcune dinamiche sgradevoli, quasi incomprensibili. Chi è andato a donare all’ex Ospedale del Ceppo prevede una stanza apposita per le donazioni, ma quello che quasi nessuno sa è che ci sarebbe un altro locale adiacente, climatizzato, con attrezzature nuove, inaugurato nel 2020 e mai utilizzato.

“Se non per qualche Plasma Day (giornate dedicate alla donazione del plasma, ndr), non abbiamo mai utilizzato questa stanza. Uno spreco gigantesco, che però non dipende da noi. Se l’Asl mettesse a disposizione anche solo un infermiere in più rispetto a quelli che già collaborano con noi potremmo metterla a regime e avere più slot da dedicare ai donatori. Molti non riescono a conciliare i propri impegni con la donazione, altri sono scoraggiati perché la stanza attuale non dispone di un sistema di climatizzazione al passo coi tempi, abbiamo la soluzione in casa e non possiamo utilizzarla perché siamo a corto di personale. Abbiamo contattato più volte le istituzioni negli anni, ma la realtà è che dal 2020 il nuovo vano per le donazioni è chiuso, inutilizzabile, e basterebbe davvero poco. Stiamo facendo donare le persone con i ventilatori per provare – invano – a combattere il caldo. Negli ultimi mesi abbiamo dovuto ridurre il numero delle fasce orarie dedicate alle donazioni, e questo contribuisce all’annoso problema della mancanza di sangue”.

Per ogni Mario in Italia e nel mondo, ci sono gocce che possono salvare la vita

Si vedeva un ragazzo donare il sangue per la prima volta, per il suo amico Mario. Fuori dalla stanza incontra un uomo che gli dice che anche lui ha donato per Mario, pur non conoscendolo. Questo è il senso di tutto. Da una sacca di sangue si possono salvare 3 persone, da centinaia di sacche si possono salvare migliaia di vite. L’invito di Avis Pistoia è quello di sollevare la cornetta del telefono e di provare a donare per la prima volta, basta chiamare lo 0573 23765. Sono in tanti, troppi, a non conoscere i risvolti positivi della donazione e l’impatto che appena 10 minuti del proprio tempo possono avere sull’esistenza altrui.

L’autrice sarda, scomparsa a Roma il 15 agosto 1936, sarà celebrata dalla Capitale del Libro in due momenti distinti. Il primo appuntamento sarà martedì 20 ottobre con una conferenza di approfondimento affidata alla professoressa Ilaria Minghetti: un’occasione per ripercorrere la figura della scrittrice nuorese, il suo percorso umano e letterario e il valore di un riconoscimento (il Premio Nobel) che rappresentò un momento fondamentale nella storia della letteratura italiana.

A chiudere idealmente il percorso dell’anno di Capitale del Libro sarà poi lunedì 21 dicembre al Teatro Bolognini proprio lo spettacolo “Laura Morante legge Canne al vento”, con la celebre attrice chiamata a restituire al pubblico la profondità delle pagine del capolavoro di Deledda. La lettura nasce da un progetto che intreccia teatro e letteratura e vede la Morante confrontarsi con l’opera iconica della scrittrice sarda. Sul palco, insieme a lei, Maurizio Camardi ai sassofoni e duduk e Mauro Palmas al liuto cantabile. L’adattamento del testo è firmato da Eugenia Costantini, con produzione e distribuzione di AidaStudioProduzioni.

“Pistoia, città Capitale del Libro 2026, intende rimettere al centro la letteratura di Grazia Deledda, sia attraverso il magistrale omaggio teatrale di Laura Morante che legge Canne al vento per il grande pubblico, sia attraverso percorsi di lettura, incontri, presentazioni in cui le più importanti pagine della scrittrice sarda verranno esplorate per comprendere la cifra letteraria rilevantissima e complessa della sua narrativa”, afferma Marica Setaro, assessora alla Cultura del Comune di Pistoia. “L’universo femminile dei suoi romanzi, e lo sfondo storico e geografico da cui queste donne emergono, è rilevatore di un destino e di un retaggio duri a morire”.
