Nei giorni scorsi la presidente dell’associazione, Massimiliana Tellini, accompagnata da una delegazione di volontarie, ha fatto visita al reparto per consegnare alcune “buste di solidarietà” destinate ai pazienti più fragili. All’interno di ciascuna busta sono stati inseriti un pigiama nuovo e un paio di calzini antisdrucciolo, beni semplici ma spesso essenziali per affrontare la degenza in condizioni di maggiore comfort e dignità.

“Il nome della nostra associazione, Kintsugi, si ispira all’antica arte giapponese di riparare la ceramica spezzata usando l’oro – spiega la presidente Tellini -, per ricordare che una fragilità o una ferita se accolta e accudita, non va nascosta ma valorizzata, rendendo ciò che era spezzato ancora più unico e prezioso. È esattamente questo il senso del nostro impegno: restituire valore a chi si trova ad affrontare la malattia in solitudine. Queste buste, cucite e preparate con cura dalle nostre volontarie, contengono cose semplici ma cariche di significato. Speriamo possano far sentire queste persone considerate e mai sole”.

L’iniziativa richiama l’attenzione su un aspetto che accompagna spesso la fragilità in età avanzata: il rischio di isolamento sociale, che può incidere anche sull’esperienza del ricovero. Un tema ben conosciuto dagli operatori della Geriatria, chiamati quotidianamente a prendersi cura non soltanto delle condizioni cliniche dei pazienti ma anche dei loro bisogni relazionali e assistenziali.

Claudia Cantini, dottoressa del reparto di geriatria del San Jacopo, nonché vicepresidente dell’associazione Kintsugi, ha ribadito: “Nel quotidiano del nostro reparto ci confrontiamo costantemente con i bisogni non solo clinici, ma profondamente emotivi e sociali, degli anziani fragili. La solitudine durante un ricovero ospedaliero può amplificare la sofferenza e il senso di smarrimento. Un gesto come questo accende un faro su una realtà spesso invisibile e aiuta a preservare la dignità e il benessere dei nostri pazienti”.

Il comparto artigiano toscano registra una netta contrazione. Tra il maggio del 2025 e lo stesso mese del 2026, il territorio regionale ha perso 1.248 imprese e 7.919 posti di lavoro. Il quadro emerge dai dati Inps rielaborati dall’Ebret (l’ente bilaterale dell’artigianato toscano) e diffusi da Cna Toscana, che evidenziano un calo delle aziende iscritte da 29.180 a 27.932 unità, con una parallela discesa degli addetti da 126.051 a 118.132.

L’analisi settoriale individua nel comparto tessile, abbigliamento e calzature (Tac) l’area più colpita: in dodici mesi si è registrato un saldo negativo di 409 aziende e 4.446 addetti, pari a oltre la metà delle perdite complessive dell’artigianato regionale. Seguono la meccanica, che vede chiudere 289 attività con una riduzione di 1.672 posti di lavoro, e l’edilizia, con una flessione di 229 imprese e 835 lavoratori.

Il presidente di Cna Toscana, Luca Tonini, analizza il fenomeno definendolo strutturale e non legato a fattori puramente temporanei. “Siamo di fronte ad un vero e proprio allarme sociale, nella nostra regione l’artigianato sta cadendo in una crisi sempre più profonda. In un anno sono scomparse oltre 1200 imprese e quasi 8.000 addetti”, spiega il rappresentante dell’associazione, avvertendo che senza interventi mirati il settore rischia lo svuotamento. Sui singoli comparti, Tonini precisa: “Questi numeri ci confermano ancora una volta che quella della moda non è una crisi congiunturale, lo stiamo ripetendo ormai da tempo, siamo stati i primi a lanciare l’allarme. Stesso discorso per la meccanica e per l’edilizia, avevamo già avvertito le prime avvisaglie negli scorsi anni per motivi diversi”.

Alla base delle difficoltà, l’associazione individua i proibitivi costi dell’energia, dei carburanti e delle materie prime, influenzati dalla complessa congiuntura internazionale. Per tentare di arginare la chiusura delle attività, Cna Toscana sollecita tavoli istituzionali permanenti e soluzioni pratiche. “Siamo convinti che lavorando a stretto contatto istituzioni ed associazioni sia possibile ottenere dei risultati”, sottolinea Tonini, chiedendo maggiore attenzione ai tavoli di confronto per elaborare un percorso condiviso capace di dare sollievo al tessuto produttivo locale.

L’incontro sarà interamente incentrato sulla figura e l’opera di Hovhannes Toumanyan (1869–1923), poeta, scrittore e attivista, considerato il “poeta di tutti gli armeni” e una delle voci più autorevoli della letteratura della seconda metà dell’Ottocento. Celebre per la sua straordinaria capacità di raccogliere, rielaborare e tramandare le fiabe, le leggende e i canti della tradizione popolare del suo paese, Toumanyan ha saputo dar forma all’anima culturale del popolo armeno.

Durante l’incontro verrà presentata in anteprima un’importante novità tecnologica e culturale: l’applicazione Voske Daran. Si tratta di una preziosa raccolta di audio registrazioni delle fiabe dello scrittore armeno, nate con l’intento di preservare e diffondere questo straordinario patrimonio narrativo. The Tour of Chongming Island
 

SHANGHAI, Oct. 12, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Tour of Chongming Island, a premier elite women’s multi-stage road cycling race, is being held between October 9 and October 11, bringing together elite cyclists, amateur riders, and fans for a celebration of sport, sustainability and local culture.

The race is jointly organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the General Administration of Sport of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and hosted by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau and the Chongming District People’s Government. The Shanghai Cycling Association and Shanghai Wansheng Culture & Sports Industry Co Ltd are co-organizers. 

The race opens on October 9 with the 110.4-kilometer Chongzhong Stage, a city circuit race. On October 10, riders will tackle the 129.4-kilometer Chongdong Stage, starting at Changxing Island Country Park and passing through the center of Chenjia Town in Dongpatan, a populous section among riders in previous editions. The race concludes on October 11 with the 108.6-kilometer Chongxi Stage. 

The three-stage race features professional teams competing for the overall title and distinctive leader’s jerseys, with a stage winner crowned each day. Riders will cover more than 100 kilometers per stage, with the action expected to include sprint finishes, breakaways and tactical battles.  

The route passes several of Chongming’s landmarks and natural attractions, including the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge, Dongtan Wetland, Xisha Pearl Lake, Chongming New City Park and Changxing Island Country Park. 

The event also forms part of the qualification pathway for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with riders competing for valuable qualification points. 

Following the Tour of Chongming Island, Olympic medalists and UCI world champions will take to the track at the 2026 Tissot UCI Track World Championships, held October 14-18. 

The competition will extend beyond the track. The venue will feature a bazaar of local specialties and a tourism experience centre, while free shuttle buses will connect central Shanghai with the venue. 

Chongming offers visitors a different side of Shanghai, with forested landscapes, waterfront scenery and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. As more major sporting events come to the island, sport is becoming an increasingly important part of its tourism scene, bringing together cycling, culture, commerce and local life.

BREDA, Netherlands, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As World Food Day on 16 October, turns global attention to food behaviour, new BUas research questions the popular advice to “never shop hungry.” 

Sait Durgun, a researcher in the Leisure & Events domain and affiliated with the BUas Experience Lab, examined the influence of hunger and shopping purpose on unplanned purchasing using real-world supermarket data. The study followed 323 shoppers, analysed 3,819 individual items from their receipts, and measured hunger on a 0–10 scale immediately after shopping.  

Hunger’s narrow reach  

Across the full shopping basket, hunger had no significant effect on unplanned purchases. The one exception: snacks and sweets, where each one-point increase in hunger (0–10 scale) was associated with a 9% increase in the odds of an unplanned purchase. 

Age matters too  

Older shoppers were less likely to make unplanned purchases. Those aged 55 and over reported the highest hunger levels in the study, yet made the fewest unplanned purchases, suggesting experience and self-control can override physical appetite.  

Strongest factor is shopping purpose 

The strongest predictor by far was why people walked in. Shoppers who came simply to browse made unplanned purchases 69% of the time, versus 24% for routine grocery runs – a nearly ninefold difference, even after accounting for hunger. “The advice is simple,” says Durgun. “What you plan to do before entering the store may matter more for unplanned purchasing than how hungry you are.”

The capital increase is realized through the issuance of new ordinary shares by SWICH in several series, increasing the total share capital to 558,399,385 ordinary shares. This increases the total equity raised since March 2026 to over €1 billion. 

The transaction marks a major milestone in SWI Group’s transformation, providing substantial additional equity capital to accelerate the consolidation and expansion of its transatlantic digital infrastructure and AI compute platform across Europe and the United States. 

As part of the transformation announced by the Group, the proceeds will support the development and scaling of the Group’s data center and AI compute capacity, including power infrastructure, compute deployments and the execution of its development pipeline on both sides of the Atlantic. 

The capital increase materially strengthens SWI Group’s balance sheet and provides the Group with additional financial capacity to execute its growth strategy at scale, including further investment into AI and increasing its stake in existing investments. It also broadens its institutional shareholder base while enhancing market liquidity and increasing the Company’s free float to approximately 20% of the share capital.

MONTECATINI – Sconfitta casalinga per la Fabo Herons Montecatini, che tra le mura amiche del PalaTerme deve arrendersi alla travolgente potenza di fuoco della Valtur Brindisi col punteggio finale di 78-96. Di fronte a un avversario in serata di grazia al tiro, la formazione termale paga a caro prezzo un secondo quarto da incubo dal punto di vista difensivo, non riuscendo poi a completare la rimonta nonostante un generoso tentativo di reazione nella ripresa.

L‘avvio di gara vede Montecatini approcciare la contesa con la giusta determinazione: la Valtur attacca forte il ferro, ma i padroni di casa rispondono presente facendosi trovare pronti dall’arco dei 6,75 metri e mantenendo l’equilibrio a galla sul 12-11 al sesto minuto. Il primo quarto scorre via su ritmi piacevoli su entrambi i lati del campo, chiudendosi sul 19-18 per i termali. La svolta del match arriva nei primi minuti del secondo periodo: le rotazioni della panchina ospite spaccano in due la gara con un break devastante di 2-13 firmato da Mastellari e Caroti (21-31). Coach Barsotti prova a spezzare l’inerzia avversaria schierando la difesa a zona dopo il timeout, ma la mano dei tiratori pugliesi resta caldissima (7/9 da tre punti nella singola frazione). Una tripla sulla sirena di Caroti manda le squadre all’intervallo lungo sul pesante parziale di 35-49.

In avvio di terzo quarto Montecatini prova a scuotersi con le giocate di Barnett, ma Brindisi risponde colpo su colpo guidata dal duo americano Ray-Williams. I toscani provano a sfruttare i problemi di falli degli ospiti, ma la formazione biancoazzurra trova continuità realizzativa e scappa via fino al +29, prima che un’incredibile prodezza da oltre metà campo di Harris fissi il tabellone sul 53-77 al trentesimo.

Negli ultimi dieci minuti i termali hanno un sussulto d’orgoglio e piazzano un brillante parziale di 10-0 per riaprire il discorso, riducendo progressivamente lo svantaggio fino al -16 (72-88 al 37’). La Valtur tuttavia dimostra grande solidità, domina a rimbalzo d’attacco per conquistare secondi tiri e con un Ray da 21 punti ricaccia indietro ogni tentativo di riaprire la contesa. Montecatini si arrende così col finale di 78-96, dovendo subito voltare pagina e concentrarsi sul lavoro in vista dei prossimi impegni di campionato.
