COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

More than ten countries and more than twenty sites are now participating in the Company’s global pivotal trial for Huntington’s disease, with over 175 patients enrolled.

SKY-0515’s Phase 1/2 enrollment is complete and it has been generally well tolerated with twelve months of patient data. SKY-0515 has shown 69% reduction in mHTT, 26% reduction in PMS1, and cUHDRS improvements from baseline instead of natural history declines.

BOSTON, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Skyhawk Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing novel small molecule therapies designed to modulate RNA targets, announces it has received additional regulatory approvals to open its Phase 2/3 FALCON-HD (004-ANZ and 004-WW) pivotal trial, with an IND acceptance in the United States and CTA acceptances in each Canada and the United Kingdom.

“We are excited to now begin enrolling patients in our pivotal trial for Huntington’s in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada,” said Sergey Paushkin, head of Skyhawk R&D. “Clinician and Patient assessments done at twelve months of treatment support what the SKY-0515’s compelling and consistent effects on critical biomarkers and cUHDRS scores demonstrate—the exciting possibility that SKY-0515 may offer Huntington’s patients a type of therapy they have long deserved, in a convenient daily pill.”

SKY-0515 has demonstrated excellent central nervous system exposure and has been generally safe and well tolerated across dose levels studied.

Huntington’s disease is a rare, hereditary, and ultimately fatal neurodegenerative disorder affecting more than 40,000 symptomatic individuals in the United States, with hundreds of thousands more impacted worldwide. There are currently no approved therapies shown to slow or halt disease progression.

SKY-0515 is an orally administered investigational small molecule RNA splicing modifier developed by Skyhawk using the company’s proprietary SKYSTAR® platform. SKY-0515 is designed to reduce both mHTT and PMS1 proteins and has demonstrated that it does so effectively.

Skyhawk’s SKYSTAR platform has already generated additional novel therapies targeting rare neurological diseases with no approved disease-modifying treatment. The company plans to take several of these programs into clinical development by the end of 2027.

About SKY-0515’s Phase 2/3 FALCON-HD (004-ANZ and 004-WW) Pivotal ProgramSKY-0515’s FALCON-HD pivotal program (NCT06873334 and NCT07378644) is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging study evaluating the pharmacodynamics, efficacy and safety of SKY-0515.

FALCON-HD 004-ANZ enrolled 144 participants with Stage 2 and early-Stage 3 HD across sites in Australia and New Zealand, and enrollment is complete.

FALCON-HD 004-WW plans to enroll up to an additional 400 participants with Stage 2 and early Stage 3 HD across more than 40 sites worldwide and is actively treating patients at a number of these sites presently.

Additional information regarding FALCON-HD, including participating sites and eligibility criteria, is available at ClinicalTrials.gov and www.FALCON-HD.com.

About SKY-0515’s Phase 1/2 Clinical ProgramSKY-0515’s Phase 1/2 clinical trial is a first-in-human study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of SKY-0515 in healthy volunteers and participants with early-stage Huntington’s disease (HD), as well as to assess biomarkers including mutant HTT protein and PMS1 mRNA, and efficacy endpoints including cUHDRS and its subcomponents Total Functional Capacity (TFC), Total Motor Score (TMS), Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT), and Stroop Word Reading Test (SWRT).

The Phase 1/2 trial consists of three parts. Parts A and B evaluated SKY-0515 in Healthy Volunteers. Part C is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel-group study evaluating two dose levels of SKY-0515 in people living with Huntington’s disease with early-stage HD (HD-ISS Stage 1, Stage 2, or mild Stage 3) over 84 days, followed by a twelve-month blinded extension period during which all participants receive active treatment at either a low or high dose.

Enrollment in the Phase 1/2 study is complete.

After pioneering the industry’s mainstream 50Ah residential storage cell platform, the company expanded its portfolio with 72Ah, 100Ah, 280Ah, 314Ah and the latest WENDING® 392Ah cell, creating a comprehensive platform supporting residential storage, commercial and industrial storage, and utility-scale energy storage.

Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, REPT BATTERO develops application-specific solutions for different regions. High-cycle-life products are designed for mature markets such as Europe and Australia, while cost-optimized solutions address the growing demand across Southeast Asia and Africa.

According to third-party market research, three of Europe’s five most recognized residential battery brands use REPT BATTERO battery cells. The company is also a core battery cell supplier to leading residential ESS providers in Australia.

In present, REPT BATTERO residential battery cells are deployed across Europe, Australia, North America, South Africa and Southeast Asia, where they have established a strong reputation for safety, durability and long-term reliability.

To support its expanding international business, REPT BATTERO has established a “Global Standard, Local Delivery” framework that combines globally standardized quality and project management with localized execution tailored to regional regulations, grid requirements and customer needs. This framework has already been implemented across projects in Australia and Europe and will continue expanding into North America and Southeast Asia, enabling customers to benefit from globally consistent standards together with responsive local support.

Following its No.1 global ranking in residential energy storage cells and No.2 position in C&I energy storage cells, REPT BATTERO will continue investing in battery innovation, advanced manufacturing and global delivery capabilities to support the next stage of global energy storage growth.

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — KuCoin, a leading global crypto platform built on trust, today officially unveiled the Celestia Stage, a brand-new immersive destination at Tomorrowland Belgium 2026. More than a stage announcement, the launch marks a new chapter in the multi-year strategic partnership between KuCoin and Tomorrowland—bringing together two global brands united by a shared belief that the future is shaped through curiosity, trust and meaningful human connection.

As Tomorrowland’s Official Exclusive Crypto Exchange and Crypto Payments Partner, KuCoin’s collaboration extends far beyond traditional sponsorship. Rather than simply placing a brand within the festival, both partners set out to create an experience that reflects their common philosophy: inspiring people to explore the unknown with confidence, embrace transformation and build connections through shared experiences.

A Story That Begins with Trust

At Tomorrowland, every stage begins with a story.

Inspired by the legend of Celestia within the Tomorrowland universe, the new stage is imagined as a mythical guardian in the form of a celestial butterfly—a timeless symbol of transformation, growth and new beginnings. Guiding visitors not by instruction, but through curiosity and trust, Celestia invites the People of Tomorrow to discover new perspectives and embrace the future together.

That philosophy closely reflects KuCoin’s own vision.

Rather than positioning itself simply as a digital asset platform, KuCoin strives to become a trusted guide into the future of digital finance—making innovation more approachable, intuitive and human. The Celestia Stage therefore represents far more than a branded venue. It is a shared story where music, culture, technology and imagination come together to demonstrate that trust is the foundation upon which exploration, innovation and community are built.

Designed around the graceful form of a butterfly in flight, the stage blends organic landscapes, crystalline structures and flowing digital elements into a living environment where nature and technology exist in harmony. Throughout the festival, the story continues beyond the stage through the KuCoin Guardians, whose presence embodies guidance, curiosity and discovery across the Tomorrowland experience.

Two Communities, One Shared Vision

For nearly two decades, Tomorrowland has united millions of people from around the world through music, creativity and shared experiences.

KuCoin shares that same community-first philosophy. Today, the platform serves more than 40 million users across over 200 countries and regions, building trusted infrastructure that empowers people everywhere to participate confidently in the evolving digital economy.

Together, Tomorrowland and KuCoin believe that the future is not defined by technology alone, but by the communities who embrace it together. By bringing together culture, innovation and trust, the Celestia Stage creates a destination where people from every corner of the world can discover, connect and imagine what’s possible together.

“Tomorrowland has always inspired people to discover something beyond themselves through music, creativity and imagination,” said BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin. “That philosophy closely reflects our own vision. At KuCoin, we believe trust is what empowers people to embrace the future with confidence. Celestia is much more than a stage. It is a shared symbol of transformation, curiosity and connection. Together with Tomorrowland, we hope to create an experience where innovation feels approachable, communities feel connected, and every visitor is inspired to explore what comes next.”

The Journey Begins This Summer

Throughout Tomorrowland Belgium 2026, the Celestia Stage will come to life through a carefully curated electronic music program, immersive artistic experiences and interactive storytelling inspired by the legend of Celestia. Festival-goers will also encounter the KuCoin Guardians across the festival grounds, extending the spirit of guidance and discovery beyond the stage itself.

Additional details—including the full artist lineup, immersive stage experiences and exclusive community activations—will be unveiled in the coming weeks as Tomorrowland and KuCoin continue to bring the world of Celestia to life.

The story of Celestia is only beginning. Together, Tomorrowland and KuCoin invite the People of Tomorrow to discover the next chapter—guided by curiosity, united by shared experiences, and inspired by trust.

ACCESS TO RENEWABLE ENERGY CRITICAL TO KEEP MOBILE INDUSTRY ON TRACK FOR NET ZERO, NEW GSMA REPORT FINDS

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

Mobile operators cut operational emissions by 13% since 2019 despite mobile connections rising by 10% and data traffic more than quadrupling, but faster access to clean energy is needed to accelerate progress.

LONDON, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mobile network operators worldwide are making significant progress in reducing carbon emissions, but greater access to renewable energy – particularly in emerging markets – will be essential if the industry is to meet its climate targets and remain on track to achieve net zero by 2050, according to the GSMA’s new Mobile Net Zero 2026: State of the Industry on Climate Action report.

The report, which analyses energy and emissions data from more than 110 mobile operators representing 85% of global mobile connections, shows that the industry’s operational emissions fell by 5% in 2024 alone and by 13% between 2019 and 2024. This has been achieved despite mobile connections increasing by 10% and data traffic more than quadrupling over the same period.

Renewable energy remains the single biggest driver of emissions reductions. Operators purchased or generated around 70 TWh of renewable electricity in 2024, equivalent to the total renewable electricity generation of Indonesia. The share of operator electricity sourced from renewables (in addition to renewables already in the grid mix) has more than doubled since 2019, from 10% to 24%.

John Giusti, Chief Regulatory Officer at the GSMA, said:

“The mobile industry continues to demonstrate that economic growth, digital connectivity and climate action can go hand in hand. Operators are connecting more people, carrying more data and supporting digital economies around the world while still reducing emissions.

“The progress we are seeing is encouraging, but more needs to be done. Access to renewable energy remains one of the biggest factors determining how quickly operators can decarbonise. Policymakers have a vital role in creating the conditions that enable investment in clean energy infrastructure and accelerate the transition to net zero.”

Accelerating progress

Report recommends that governments play a critical enabling role in accelerating the transition by creating policy environments that encourage investment in renewable energy and grids, modernising electricity markets to improve corporate access to renewables, and streamlining permitting processes to accelerate clean energy deployment.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Media OutReach Newswire – 14 July 2026 – Thailand is strengthening its transition toward a net-zero economy through enhanced collaboration between government and industry. On the occasion of its 20

th

anniversary, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) announced its strategic initiative, “The NEXT Chapter to Net Zero 2050,” aimed at accelerating implementation across five priority areas under the theme ‘Accelerating Collaborative Action towards Net Zero 2050.’ The initiative reinforces the cement industry’s evolving role as a Climate Solution Partner, aligned with the Thailand 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap, a collective industry commitment supporting national climate goals.

The TCMA at 20 event was presided over by H.E. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, and brought together senior representatives from government agencies, industry, professional institutions, and international organizations, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing Thailand’s Net Zero 2050 target.

In his remarks, the Minister of Industry emphasized that achieving net-zero emissions requires coordinated action across all sectors under a unified ‘ONE MIND’ approach. The Ministry of Industry continues to advance enabling policies, regulatory frameworks, and economic instruments to support industrial decarbonization, while promoting green industry development, strengthening ESG standards, and enhancing competitiveness. He also highlighted ongoing collaboration with international partners, including UNIDO, GIZ, and the Government of Canada, to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon technologies.

Dr. Chana Poomee, Honourary Chairman of TCMA, noted that Thailand’s cement industry is transitioning beyond its traditional role toward becoming a Climate Solution Partner, contributing to climate mitigation through both emissions reduction and the development of sustainable construction solutions.

Representing the government sector, Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and Mr. Sunthorn Kaewsa-ard, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry, underscored the importance of public–private partnerships (PPP) in translating policy commitments into measurable outcomes, ensuring that emissions reductions are achieved alongside sustained industrial competitiveness.

Mr. Surachai Nimla-or, Chairman of TCMA, described “The NEXT Chapter” as a strategic inflection point for the industry, guided by the principle of being competitive, sustainable, and low-carbon. TCMA is advancing this transition through five key implementation engines, integrating policy, technology, innovation, energy transition, circular economy, and digitalization to enable systemic change that is measurable, scalable, and aligned with national timelines.

TCMA also continues to advance the SARABURI SANDBOX, a low-carbon city pilot that serves as a platform to test policy instruments, technological solutions, and green financing mechanisms through multi-stakeholder collaboration, with the objective of scaling successful models at the national and regional levels.

The launch of “The NEXT Chapter” underscores the role of Thailand’s cement industry as a key contributor to regional decarbonization efforts and highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing an inclusive and sustainable transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Stagflation contained by fragile Middle East truce, says Atradius

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

AMSTERDAM, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — According to the latest Atradius Economic Outlook, the risk of a more severe stagflation shock has been contained for now. The ceasefire between the US and Iran has helped ease pressure on energy prices following months of disruption to energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Atradius forecasts global GDP growth of 2.4% in 2026, down from 3.0% in 2025, before recovering to 3.1% in 2027. While the conflict has weighed on economic activity through higher energy and commodity costs, the baseline outlook assumes a gradual reopening of the strait, helping the global economy avoid a sharper downturn.

“While the conflict in Iran has pushed up energy costs and created a mild stagflation shock, the feared stagflation spiral is likely to be avoided as long as tensions remain broadly contained. The continued technology and AI investment boom is helping to cushion the impact,” said John Lorié, Chief Economist at Atradius.

The report identifies the AI and technology investment boom as a key source of support for the global economy. Strong spending on data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, cloud infrastructure and related technologies continues to underpin growth, particularly in the US, while AI-related trade remains an important driver of international commerce.

The energy shock is forcing the world’s major central banks to respond in different ways. While the European Central Bank has raised interest rates to contain inflation, the US Federal Reserve is keeping rates higher for longer and delaying monetary easing. In contrast, China continues to maintain a moderately loose monetary stance to support domestic demand. The contrasting responses highlight how unevenly the impact of the Iran conflict is being felt across the world’s largest economies.

Global trade is expected to lose momentum after a stronger-than-expected 2025. Higher energy costs, weaker import demand and persistent trade policy uncertainty are forecast to keep trade growth below 2% in 2026, before recovering to around 3% in 2027.

Atradius warns that risks remain firmly tilted to the downside. The main threat to the outlook is a re-escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran. In a downside scenario where fighting resumes and the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed until the fourth quarter, while alternative shipping routes also come under threat, energy prices would surge again. In this scenario, inflation would accelerate and global GDP growth would fall to recessionary levels of 1.9% in 2026 and 1.4% in 2027. Major advanced economies, including the US, would enter recession.

For now, the durability of the ceasefire and the pace at which shipping flows through the Strait of Hormuz return to normal remain the key factors shaping the global economic outlook.

“On behalf of the International Committee, I sincerely congratulate this year’s laureates. Selecting winners is never easy, especially when it comes to research of such high calibre. The work they have accomplished is distinguished not only by its scientific novelty, but also by the fact that their ideas have already found practical application and are helping to solve real-world challenges in global energy. I would like to thank all the scientists whose research was submitted for the prize, the organisations that nominated candidates, and our colleagues from around the world who continue to advance science by uniting knowledge and experience for the sake of our common future. It is through this collaboration that discoveries capable of changing the lives of millions of people emerge,” said Rae Kwon Chung, Chairman of the International Award Committee, in his congratulatory address.

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

CHENGDU, China, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Shanghai Stock Exchange listed company HitGen Inc. (“HitGen”, SSE: 688222.SH), congratulates its partner BioAge Labs, Inc. (“BioAge”, NASDAQ: BIOA), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutic product candidates for cardiometabolic diseases by targeting the biology of human aging, on dosing the first participant in QUELL-CV, a Phase 2 proof-of-concept clinical trial of BGE-102, a potent, structurally novel, orally available, brain-penetrant small molecule NLRP3 inhibitor.

BGE-102 was developed from a hit compound identified via HitGen’s industry-leading DEL (DNA-Encoded Library) technology platform. It is being developed as a once-daily oral therapy, with cardiovascular risk reduction as the lead indication. The Phase 1 results reported by BioAge have positioned BGE-102 as a potential best-in-class NLRP3 inhibitor, with profound hsCRP reductions on a well-tolerated, once-daily oral dose. QUELL-CV is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging Phase 2 proof-of-concept trial evaluating BGE-102 in participants at elevated cardiovascular risk; the trial is designed to inform optimal dose selection in Phase 3 and BGE-102’s path forward in cardiovascular disease. Topline data are anticipated in the second half of 2026.

“We are very pleased to see BGE‑102 reach the Phase 2 milestone,” said Dr. Jin Li, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of HitGen Inc. “This achievement not only underscores the power of our DEL platform in generating novel small‑molecule leads against challenging targets, but also highlights the strength of our collaborative model with BioAge. We are excited to continue our partnership and watch this promising candidate progress further.”

“Reaching Phase 2 is an important milestone for BGE-102 and for our collaboration with HitGen,” said Kristen Fortney, Ph.D., CEO and co-founder of BioAge. “HitGen’s DEL platform helped us identify structurally novel NLRP3 inhibitor hits. Our medicinal chemistry team advanced those hits into BGE-102, an oral, brain-penetrant molecule that engages a novel NLRP3 binding site and that produced profound hsCRP reductions in our Phase 1 trial. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with HitGen to identify novel starting points against additional targets across our pipeline.”

HitGen has established a distinctive discovery engine that delivers therapeutics molecules and novel tool molecules to the global pharmaceutical industry. As of the end of 2025, the company has partnered with over 600 clients globally and contributed to thousands of their innovative drug development projects.

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

BROOMFIELD, Colo. and CAMBRIDGE, England, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Quantinuum Inc. (NASDAQ:QNT), Rolls-Royce, Riverlane and EPCC, the UK National Supercomputing Centre based at the University of Edinburgh, today announced an agreement to explore the quantum computing capabilities needed in future industrial workflows, such as gas turbine design.

Under the agreement, Quantinuum will provide access to its quantum systems and software environment; Rolls-Royce will contribute industrial design use cases and domain expertise; Riverlane will contribute quantum error correction and algorithmic expertise; and EPCC will contribute supercomputing expertise and hybrid workflow integration.

Complex fluid dynamics simulations are central to gas turbine design, but they can require substantial computing resources as models become more detailed. In what is expected to be a multi-year collaboration, the partners will explore how fault-tolerant quantum computers could work alongside supercomputers to address this bottleneck, and accurately model fluid dynamics inside gas turbines.

“The computing demands of simulating complex fluid dynamics are a major challenge in industrial design, and exploring how quantum computing can complement today’s supercomputers is an important step toward addressing them,” said Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President and CEO of Quantinuum. “This collaboration will help develop and test the hybrid quantum-classical algorithms needed for future industrial applications.”

The collaborators plan to test key computational building blocks for industrially relevant quantum algorithms on Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer and assess how these could scale on planned future systems, such as Sol and Apollo.

This project builds on prior collaborations between Rolls-Royce, Riverlane and EPCC that laid the foundations for understanding key algorithmic, error correction and data requirements for tackling fluid dynamic simulations with commercial quantum computers.

“We have been developing and improving algorithms for hybrid fault-tolerant applications for almost five years with Riverlane, using classical emulators in collaboration with EPCC. This agreement marks the start of an exciting new phase where we work together to explore their implementations on Quantinuum’s hardware,” said Leigh Lapworth, Fellow in Computational Science at Rolls-Royce. “Applications development is a multi-year activity and if we want to be in a position to benefit from teraQuOp devices, we have to start now, co-developing the algorithms, hardware and software.”

“Riverlane specialises in quantum error correction (QEC), as the critical technology that will ultimately unlock large fault-tolerant quantum computing, and fault-tolerant applications for various industries,” said Steve Brierley, CEO and Founder of Riverlane. “Building on our work with Rolls-Royce and EPCC, collaborating with Quantinuum will help us explore how fault-tolerant quantum computing and hybrid quantum-HPC approaches can accelerate the path to industrial quantum computing.”

EPCC will contribute its expertise in high-performance computing, simulations and the software interfaces needed to connect quantum and classical systems. Its role includes exploring how different parts of an algorithm can be compiled, emulated and executed across classical and quantum resources, including pre- and post-processing steps required for hybrid compute workflows.

“Quantum computing will be most valuable when users can exploit it within a wider computing environment, and EPCC has been working towards hybrid HPC and quantum since my appointment as a Chancellor’s Fellow in 2023,” said Oliver Thomson Brown, Quantum Group lead at EPCC. “EPCC’s mission is to accelerate the effective use of novel computing across industry and academia, and this project is a natural fit with the goals of the UK’s first National Supercomputing Centre.”

The UK’s quantum computing mission aims to develop accessible, UK-based quantum computers capable of one trillion error-free operations, known as “teraQuOp” systems. The collaboration and its anticipated multi-year timeline support the UK Government’s quantum computing mission and reflect the strength and maturity of the UK’s quantum and advanced computing ecosystem in moving from foundational research toward industrially relevant hybrid applications.

Jane Goodall Institute USA and FormationQ Launch First-of-its-kind Quantum Computing Research Programme to Explore the Ecological Roots of War and Peace

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

LONDON and AUSTIN, Texas, July 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) USA and FormationQ today announced a landmark research partnership that will apply trapped-ions quantum computing by IonQ to one of the most enduring questions in behavioral ecology: why do some species engage in lethal intergroup violence while others live peacefully alongside their neighbours?

Launching on World Chimpanzee Day, which marks the 66th anniversary of Dr. Jane Goodall’s arrival at Gombe, Tanzania to begin her wild chimpanzee study, the two-year programme builds on more than six decades of pioneering field research, bringing together advanced computational modelling, hybrid quantum-classical computing and behavioural ecology into a new state-of-the-art collaborative research framework.

The programme, Ecology of War and Peace: Using Quantum-Enhanced Agent-Based Modelling to Explain Contrasting Intergroup Behaviour in Chimpanzees and Bonobos, will mark a first-of-its-kind application of quantum-enhanced computation to the study of ecology, evolution and behaviour, representing a bold new chapter in the Jane Goodall Institute USA’s decades-long legacy of using innovative technologies to support long-term research, conservation and education.

The programme will bring together JGI’s unparalleled scientific legacy, behavioural modelling developed by researchers at the University of Minnesota, FormationQ’s expertise in designing and operating applied programmes and IonQ’s quantum computing platform.

At the centre of the programme is B3GET (Behaviour, Ecology, Genetics, Evolution and Tradeoffs), a sophisticated agent-based model in which virtual primates live, move, forage, reproduce and interact across artificial landscapes. Researchers can systematically vary ecological conditions including food distribution, home range size and group cohesion rules, to investigate how environmental factors influence patterns of cooperation and conflict over time.

Chimpanzees and bonobos are humanity’s two closest living relatives, yet they display strikingly different patterns of intergroup behaviour. Jane Goodall famously observed chimpanzee warfare in the 1970s, in which chimpanzees engaged in organised, lethal inter-group conflict. Bonobos, however, are known to peacefully socialize between communities.

The answer in explaining this difference, researchers believe, lies in ecology: in the way food is distributed across the landscape, the size of the ranges each species must cover, and the moment-to-moment decisions individuals make about whether to travel alone or in groups. Decades of field research have provided extraordinary insights into these behaviours. However, understanding how numerous ecological variables interact across complex systems remains a significant challenge.

By combining advanced agent-based modelling with hybrid quantum-classical computational approaches, the programme will investigate how quantum computing can help researchers explore this complex space in new ways and improve the calibration of large-scale behavioural models, thereby helping identify the ecological conditions that distinguish the lethal intergroup aggression of chimpanzees from the more peaceful coexistence of bonobos.

The project will also provide insights into how chimpanzees’ natural behaviour connects to habitat and increased mortality. Both factors are essential to not only understand chimpanzees, but also better identify and protect habitats and model chimpanzee populations to develop more effective conservation strategies.

Dr. Lilian Pintea, Vice President of Conservation Science at the Jane Goodall Institute and Principal Investigator, said:

“Dr. Jane Goodall spent over 65 years building the most comprehensive ongoing record of wild chimpanzees. That legacy of patient, rigorous observation is now meeting the frontier of quantum science. Understanding the ecological conditions that drive how chimpanzees interact with their habitats and neighbors is also relevant to understanding why populations thrive or decline, and where conservation action will matter most.

“This partnership embodies exactly what the Jane Goodall Institute’s scientific work stands for: strategically bringing the most powerful technology tools available to bear on the questions that matter most for chimpanzees, for conservation, and for our understanding of what it means to be human. This programme is one of the last that Jane and I worked on together. Launching it today, on the 66th anniversary of her first day at Gombe, is deeply meaningful to me.”

Nada Hosking, Founder and CEO of FormationQ said:

“This programme starts with a profound scientific question, decades of extraordinary field research and a sophisticated model built to understand a deeply complex natural system. FormationQ’s role in this partnership is to bring those elements together with IonQ’s frontier quantum computing capabilities and build a research programme around a question that has never before been approached in this way.

“We believe the real promise of quantum will emerge when world-leading domain expertise, data and models are connected to the technology in ways that allow researchers to ask new questions. There could be few more meaningful places to begin than with Jane Goodall’s extraordinary scientific legacy and what it can still teach us about nature, conservation and ourselves.”

Notes to Editors

B3GET was developed by Dr. Kristin N. Crouse, a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Minnesota, who will serve as Co-Investigator and full-time research lead on the project. The project team also includes Dr. Michael L. Wilson as the Co-Investigator, University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences and with research infrastructure support from the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute. Michael Wilson, Professor of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, is a Principal Investigator of the Gombe Research Consortium with over 25 years’ experience working with the Gombe chimpanzee project, including three years serving as Director of Field Research for Gombe Stream Research Centre.

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) USA brings insights from over 65 years of records of field research, informing the focus areas for this research programme with their specialist domain expertise. FormationQ will bring the partners together, designing and operating the applied quantum component of the programme, while IonQ will provide the quantum computing platform and technical capability through their trapped-ion systems.
