CASTELFIORENTINO – La ventunenne Miriam Bongiorni, originaria di Massa, è stata eletta Miss Toscana 2026. L’assegnazione del titolo è avvenuta al Teatro del Popolo di Castelfiorentino poco dopo la mezzanotte di domenica 30 agosto, in coincidenza con il compleanno della vincitrice.

Studentessa al secondo anno di Infermieristica presso l’Università di Pisa, Bongiorni sta attualmente svolgendo il tirocinio nelle strutture dell’Asl Nord-Ovest. “Il percorso infermieristico mi permette di approfondire sia la cultura scientifica sia quella del corpo umano, unite alla sensibilità e all’empatia”, ha spiegato la giovane. Alta poco più di un metro e settanta, ha un passato agonistico di quattordici anni nella ginnastica ritmica e attualmente pratica la danza moderna. L’iscrizione al concorso è stata motivata dal desiderio di fare una nuova esperienza e di avvicinarsi al mondo della recitazione, ispirata anche dal suo attore di riferimento, Stefano Accorsi. “Volevo fare qualcosa di diverso ma soprattutto compiere i primi passi nello spettacolo che è un mondo che mi affascina”, ha affermato la vincitrice, sottolineando anche il valore umano dell’esperienza: “Sono contenta di far parte di un gruppo di ragazze oltre che belle di grandi valori come quello dell’amicizia”.

L’aspetto visivo di una specie animale influenza le decisioni sulla sua tutela e l’interesse della comunità scientifica. È quanto emerge dallo studio internazionale Beauty Bias in Butterfly Conservation and Research, pubblicato sulla rivista Current Biology. La ricerca è stata coordinata da Leonardo Dapporto e Mariagrazia Portera dell’Università di Firenze, con il contributo attivo di Alessandro Cini, docente del Dipartimento di Biologia dell’Università di Pisa, figurante tra gli autori principali del progetto.

L’indagine ha coinvolto oltre 21.000 persone da più di cento Paesi, chiamate a esprimere un giudizio sull’estetica di centinaia di farfalle europee. I ricercatori hanno poi incrociato le valutazioni con il volume di pubblicazioni scientifiche dedicate alle singole specie, l’interesse del pubblico su piattaforme come iNaturalist e Flickr, la presenza negli strumenti normativi europei e il livello di rischio indicato nelle Liste Rosse della Iucn.

I risultati confermano l’esistenza di un ‘beauty bias’, un pregiudizio estetico che ha orientato le strategie di conservazione. Le farfalle giudicate più belle hanno attratto precocemente l’attenzione pubblica e scientifica, ottenendo di conseguenza maggiori tutele legali e finanziamenti. Al contrario, il meccanismo rischia di ignorare le reali priorità ecologiche: diverse specie minacciate ma visivamente meno appariscenti continuano a ricevere risorse insufficienti a causa di logiche decisionali radicate nei decenni passati.

Le implicazioni di questo fenomeno si estendono oltre l’ambito dei lepidotteri. “Se il bias estetico gioca un ruolo anche all’interno di un gruppo di insetti particolarmente amato e percepito positivamente dall’opinione pubblica, è facile immaginare quanto possa essere ancora più determinante quando la società deve decidere quali animali proteggere, confrontando specie percepite in modo molto diverso: dai mammiferi considerati ‘teneri’ e dagli uccelli variopinti fino a ragni, vespe, calabroni e mosche”, ha spiegato il professor Cini.

Molti organismi ritenuti sgradevoli o inutili ricoprono ruoli fondamentali per l’equilibrio ambientale. “La loro protezione non dovrebbe dipendere da quanto ci piacciono, ma dallo stato di salute delle loro popolazioni, poiché tutti hanno importanza all’interno degli ecosistemi”, ha concluso il ricercatore, auspicando politiche di tutela basate esclusivamente sull’importanza ecologica e sul reale rischio di estinzione.

By linking inputs with patterns, sewing relationships, and simulation, GarmageNet illustrates how fashion AI can become part of a connected product-development workflow rather than remain an isolated image-generation tool. 

GarmageNet is supported by GarmageSet, a dataset of 14,801 professionally created garments. In the paper’s evaluations, GarmageJigsaw achieved 99.16% precision and 97.13% recall in sewing-point identification. GarmageNet achieved a 91.41% simulation-initialization success rate on 150 complex patterns, with reported inference time of approximately eight seconds per garment under the study’s test conditions. 

The research reflects Style3D’s foundation in deformable-object simulation, garment deformation, digital fabrics, and AI-assisted workflows. Professor David O’Neal, University of Melbourne and Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations, reviewed emerging clinical evidence for continuous glucose and ketone monitoring. Associate Professor Shannon Lin, a diabetes and nutrition specialist at the University of Technology Sydney, examined how CGM can move beyond data visibility toward personalised, predictive and actionable support. Professor Wei Qiang, Associate Chief Physician and Deputy Director of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, outlined an integrated, AI-driven ecosystem connecting trusted sensing, context and learning. 

Throughout the congress, physicians and diabetes educators visited the SIBIONICS booth to experience GS3 and discuss its glucose-management capabilities. In anonymised interviews, CDEs described the sensor as small, light, comfortable and easy to set up. They saw particular potential in AI-supported spike detection, easier meal logging and food analysis that connects glucose trends with meal context. Their feedback also highlighted the importance of personalisation, clear carbohydrate estimates and clinically useful event timelines—reinforcing that AI should extend education and decision support, not replace professional care.

At its core, the LWBE3G plug-fan platform enables FanWall arrays that cut CRAH fan energy by 38%. 

Working with a top-3 global precision cooling OEM, LONGWELL delivered 12 engineering samples in 35 days and passed DV/PV at 100% first time. The incumbent European supplier had quoted 14 months of development plus six months of ramp while LONGWELL used 90 days from spec lock to mass production.
