L’aspetto visivo di una specie animale influenza le decisioni sulla sua tutela e l’interesse della comunità scientifica. È quanto emerge dallo studio internazionale Beauty Bias in Butterfly Conservation and Research, pubblicato sulla rivista Current Biology. La ricerca è stata coordinata da Leonardo Dapporto e Mariagrazia Portera dell’Università di Firenze, con il contributo attivo di Alessandro Cini, docente del Dipartimento di Biologia dell’Università di Pisa, figurante tra gli autori principali del progetto.

L’indagine ha coinvolto oltre 21.000 persone da più di cento Paesi, chiamate a esprimere un giudizio sull’estetica di centinaia di farfalle europee. I ricercatori hanno poi incrociato le valutazioni con il volume di pubblicazioni scientifiche dedicate alle singole specie, l’interesse del pubblico su piattaforme come iNaturalist e Flickr, la presenza negli strumenti normativi europei e il livello di rischio indicato nelle Liste Rosse della Iucn.

I risultati confermano l’esistenza di un ‘beauty bias’, un pregiudizio estetico che ha orientato le strategie di conservazione. Le farfalle giudicate più belle hanno attratto precocemente l’attenzione pubblica e scientifica, ottenendo di conseguenza maggiori tutele legali e finanziamenti. Al contrario, il meccanismo rischia di ignorare le reali priorità ecologiche: diverse specie minacciate ma visivamente meno appariscenti continuano a ricevere risorse insufficienti a causa di logiche decisionali radicate nei decenni passati.

Le implicazioni di questo fenomeno si estendono oltre l’ambito dei lepidotteri. “Se il bias estetico gioca un ruolo anche all’interno di un gruppo di insetti particolarmente amato e percepito positivamente dall’opinione pubblica, è facile immaginare quanto possa essere ancora più determinante quando la società deve decidere quali animali proteggere, confrontando specie percepite in modo molto diverso: dai mammiferi considerati ‘teneri’ e dagli uccelli variopinti fino a ragni, vespe, calabroni e mosche”, ha spiegato il professor Cini.

Molti organismi ritenuti sgradevoli o inutili ricoprono ruoli fondamentali per l’equilibrio ambientale. “La loro protezione non dovrebbe dipendere da quanto ci piacciono, ma dallo stato di salute delle loro popolazioni, poiché tutti hanno importanza all’interno degli ecosistemi”, ha concluso il ricercatore, auspicando politiche di tutela basate esclusivamente sull’importanza ecologica e sul reale rischio di estinzione.

BELGRADE, Serbia, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Expo 2027 Belgrade, the first Specialised Expo in the Western Balkans, is attracting strong international interest. In just three months, 10,000 candidates from 119 countries have applied to become Expo Playmakers, the official volunteers who will welcome visitors and international participants to Belgrade. 

The scale and diversity of applications underline the international appeal of what will be the largest international event ever organised by Serbia, bringing countries, cultures and ideas together. 

Expo 2027 Belgrade will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027, with more than 130 participating countries represented over 93 days in the Serbian capital. The BIE expects more than four million visits, giving Serbia and the wider Western Balkans an international platform to showcase their culture, ideas and potential. 

Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, welcomed the milestone. “The first 10,000 applications are, above all, a reason for me to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has placed their trust in us and decided to dedicate part of their time, knowledge and energy to Expo 2027,” Jerinić said. 

Among the 48 volunteer roles, the most sought-after positions include supporting marketing and protocol teams, working with international participants in their pavilions, welcoming and guiding visitors, providing information, and supporting sports and educational programmes. 

Applications are open to interested adults from Serbia and abroad, as well as those who will have turned 18 by 15 April 2027. Upon completing their engagement, volunteers will receive an internationally recognised certificate endorsed by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

GarmageNet is supported by GarmageSet, a dataset of 14,801 professionally created garments. In the paper’s evaluations, GarmageJigsaw achieved 99.16% precision and 97.13% recall in sewing-point identification. GarmageNet achieved a 91.41% simulation-initialization success rate on 150 complex patterns, with reported inference time of approximately eight seconds per garment under the study’s test conditions.

Dopo le inevitabili fasi di studio la sblocca la formazione di casa con Della Latta a fine primo tempo. Match virtualmente chiuso con il gol di Saporetti ad inizio ripresa, poi è pura accademia con il gol di Campagna che fa il 3-0 finale.

Il primo tempo è un dominio totale degli orange. La prima occasione della gara arriva dalla testa di Motti, che al 10′ impegna Brilli con un colpo ravvicinato: ottima respinta dell’estremo difensore azzurro. Al 20′, ancora Pistoiese protagonista: Tavanti crossa dalla trequarti di destra verso il secondo palo; Simone Saporetti rimette il pallone all’indietro, verso il palo opposto, dove Contini arriva per primo ma non riesce a colpire a rete. Lo Scandicci si rende pericoloso appena prima del cooling break, al minuto numero 23: Guidelli cerca e trova uno schema su punizione al limite, servendo il pallone rasoterra al limite per Tacconi; la sua conclusione di piatto termina a lato. La Pistoiese si rende pericolosa soprattutto da corner, e al 25′ un colpo di testa di Rossi porta ad una mischia su cui gli arancioni si fanno sentire per un possibile fallo di mano. Gli uomini di mister Bisoli continuano a premere il pedale dell’acceleratore: un colpo al volo di Biagi viene murato da Dodaro al 42′, e un minuto dopo una nuova volée di Biagi, sugli sviluppi di un corner, viene deviata a rete da capitan Della Latta per il vantaggio della Pistoiese. La deviazione del numero 15 spiazza l’estremo difensore avversario, che guarda così entrare in porta il pallone senza riuscire ad intervenire. Questa è anche l’ultima occasione della prima frazione, che termina con gli arancioni in avanti per 1-0.

Il secondo tempo inizia subito col botto: Calia va in pressione e sradica il pallone a Dodaro sulla fascia destra, tiene il pallone in gioco sul filo della linea di fondo e serve al centro Motti; il numero 9 della Pistoiese s’inventa un passaggio in mezzo a tre per Simone Saporetti, che scarica di prima alle spalle di Brilli per il 2 a 0 arancione. Nei minuti successivi la pressione della Pistoiese resta altissima, con Maldonado, Luperini e Motti che arrivano vicini alla rete. La gara si tranquillizza nella sua fase centrale, con la Pistoiese in controllo del pallino del gioco. L’unica occasione del secondo tempo dello Scandicci arriva con una mischia al 31′, con Chiaverini, Tellini, Dodaro e ancora Chiaverini che vengono murati in rapida sequenza. La Pistoiese torna subito dopo alla ribalta con Motti, che non trova lo specchio della porta per un soffio; al 35′ Calia serve un pallone delizioso per Tavanti, che conclude forte a rete ma trova un ottimo Brilli a negargli il debutto con gol. La terza rete degli arancioni arriva comunque al 40′: Accardi pennella un pallone delizioso da sinistra per Campagna, che colpisce di testa verso il palo lontano e mette la ciliegina su una grande prestazione d’esordio degli arancioni. La gara termina 3-0, senza ulteriori sussulti.

Ad accogliere Bersani, ex segretario Pd, già ministro nei governi Prodi, D’Alema, Amato, il deputato Marco Simiani, segretario unione comunale Pd Grosseto, con Giacomo Termine, segretario provinciale Pd Grosseto.

Bersani: “Il campo largo è la strada, la stiamo percorrendo già in mezza Italia. Dobbiamo allargarlo anche di più. Bisogna partire non dai nomi e dalle formule, ma dicendo chiaro quello che vogliamo fare: no alla guerra, no al riarmo, sul lavoro si cambia. Poi le forze ci sono per un’alternativa a questa destra che in quattro anni ci ha fatto fare solo passi indietro. Quattro anni sono abbastanza per non poter più dare la colpa agli altri: allora perché siamo indietro in tutte le classifiche? C’è qualcuno che si ricordi qualche riforma che ha migliorato la vita dei cittadini?

Poi Bersani, intervistato da Chiara Geloni: “Vogliono far passare l’idea che loro stanno col popolo. La destra ha sempre fatto così. Meloni, in questi quattro anni dove sono andati i soSono andati in salari? In investimenti per le imprese? Sono andati alle rendite. Quelli che chiamano extra profitti sono il record storico di bilanci non di qualche banca. Di tutte le banche”.

Marco Simiani: “Che partenza fantastica! Spazio eventi pieno, ristorante affollatissimo, tantissima partecipazione e un’energia travolgente per l’inaugurazione della nostra Festa dell’Unità di Grosseto. Non potevamo chiedere un inizio migliore: aprire questa edizione insieme a Pier Luigi Bersani è stato un momento straordinario di comunità, confronto aperto e passione politica vera. Un grazie di cuore a tutte le persone che hanno riempito la serata, a chi si è fermato a discutere, ad ascoltare o semplicemente a condividere un momento in compagnia sulle Mura Medicee.E il grazie più grande va, come sempre, alla nostra squadra formidabile di volontarie e volontari: senza il vostro lavoro instancabile, il vostro entusiasmo e la vostra generosità tutto questo non sarebbe possibile. La bella politica si fa tra la gente”.

Giacomo Termine: “Una partenza bellissima! Tantissime persone alle Mura Medicee di Grosseto per l’inizio della Festa regionale de l’Unità: voglia di esserci e di confrontarsi. Con buona pace di chi sui social si scatena con insulti e commenti violenti: qui ci sono persone, sorrisi e una comunità che ha voglia di costruire una alternativa seria, concreta e credibile”.
