L’avena è spesso associata alla colazione, soprattutto al porridge, preparazione a base di cereali molto diffusa nei Paesi anglosassoni. In realtà, questo ingrediente può essere utilizzato in numerosi modi, dai biscotti alle torte, fino al pane, alle piadine e alle preparazioni salate. 

Una versatilità che permette di inserirlo in ricette differenti, utilizzando ingredienti semplici e tecniche accessibili anche a chi ha poca esperienza ai fornelli. 

Il crescente interesse verso cereali e ingredienti alternativi nelle preparazioni domestiche si accompagna a una maggiore attenzione alla varietà dell’alimentazione. Ma conoscere le proprietà di un alimento significa anche comprenderne gli utilizzi e i limiti, evitando di attribuirgli benefici automatici. 

Dal punto di vista nutrizionale, l’avena è un cereale che apporta carboidrati, proteine vegetali, fibre e diversi micronutrienti. 

Tra le sue componenti più studiate figurano i beta-glucani, fibre solubili sulle quali si è concentrata anche l’attenzione dell’Autorità europea per la sicurezza alimentare (EFSA). 

Gli studi hanno documentato effetti favorevoli di specifiche quantità di beta-glucani dell’avena sui livelli di colesterolo nel sangue. La normativa europea prevede condizioni precise per l’utilizzo delle relative indicazioni sulla salute, tra cui un’assunzione giornaliera di 3 grammi di beta-glucani per l’effetto sulla riduzione del colesterolo. 

Questo non significa, naturalmente, che consumare occasionalmente un biscotto all’avena sia sufficiente a ottenere tali effetti, né che un singolo alimento possa sostituire una dieta equilibrata o eventuali trattamenti prescritti. 

L’interesse per l’avena riguarda anche le sue caratteristiche culinarie, che consentono di sperimentare consistenze e combinazioni differenti. 

Uno dei modi più semplici per impiegare l’avena consiste nell’utilizzare i fiocchi interi negli impasti di biscotti e dolci casalinghi. Abbinati a mele, banane, yogurt o frutta secca, possono contribuire a creare preparazioni dalle consistenze diverse. 

Frullando i fiocchi è inoltre possibile ottenere una farina casalinga, utile per alcuni impasti, tenendo presente che assorbe i liquidi in modo differente rispetto alla tradizionale farina di frumento.

Subito dopo il casello hanno visto alcune auto della polizia parcheggiate davanti a un edificio: la sottosezione della polizia stradale di Montecatini Terme. Gli agenti hanno allertato subito il 118 e hanno accompagnato l’uomo all’interno della struttura. Tra loro c’era anche un poliziotto che presta servizio come volontario soccorritore. Comunicare con la famiglia non è stato semplice, ma le difficoltà sono state superate in parte parlando inglese e in parte con le app di traduzione. La notizia è arrivata poco dopo: il sessantenne era stato portato d’urgenza nell’unità di emodinamica cardiologica, dove i medici lo stavano già sottoponendo ad angioplastica. Secondo quanto comunicato alla famiglia, grazie alla tempestività dei soccorsi l’esito dovrebbe essere positivo.

Expansion strengthens local production and supply for North American customers 

WESTMINSTER, S.C., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — CurTec USA is investing $10 million to expand its Westminster, South Carolina operations, creating 10 new jobs. The project will increase warehouse and production capacity and broaden the range manufactured in the United States. 

The expansion will add approximately 27,300 square feet and more than 2,000 pallet positions. Groundbreaking is planned for October 2026, with completion expected in Q2 2027.

Annual study commissioned by the Open Compute Project Foundation projects spending will reach $892 billion in 2030 as AI investment and adoption expand 

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Open Compute Project (OCP) Foundation today announced a sharp increase in IDC’s forecast for worldwide spending on OCP-recognized IT equipment. The 2026 IDC Market Impact Study projects annual spending of approximately $800 billion in 2029, up from the $295 billion forecast for the same year in last year’s study—an increase of approximately 2.7x . 

The new forecast reaches $892 billion in 2030, when OCP-recognized IT equipment is projected to account for approximately 51% of all spending across the infrastructure categories covered by the study. 

Commissioned annually by the OCP Foundation, the study assesses the market impact of OCP-recognized equipment. This year’s findings reflect both the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure investment and broader adoption of OCP designs.

AI Investment Drives GrowthIDC projects spending on OCP-recognized IT equipment will grow from approximately $154 billion in 2025 to $892 billion in 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of approximately 42%. 

Servers represent the largest spending category, with GPU-accelerated systems driving much of the growth. IDC also forecasts continued growth in switching equipment, rack infrastructure, power and cooling as organizations build the systems needed to support increasingly demanding workloads.

IDC also points to the growing ecosystem of solution providers and the availability of openly shared designs as factors supporting adoption. Use of OCP-recognized IT equipment extends beyond the Foundation’s formal membership to organizations that access and implement those designs worldwide. 

Advancing Open Infrastructure from Chip to GridThe findings reinforce OCP’s expanded Open Data Center Ecosystem Vision, which addresses the interconnected demands of AI infrastructure from chip to grid.  

Over the past year, the OCP Community has advanced higher-power rack designs, liquid cooling, Ethernet-based AI networking and open chiplet specifications. Its facilities work includes DC power distribution, energy storage, and coordination between data centers and the utility grid.
